CBPF Awarded Petrobras Inventor Award 2022
The Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Computing of the Brazilian Center for Physics Research (LITCOMP/IA/CBPF) was recognized at the 22nd edition of the Petrobras Inventor Award. The distinction was granted for the patent "Method for Automatic Detection and Characterization of Breakouts from Reservoir Well Images," an advanced technique for signal and image processing.
This technology enhances the analysis of ultrasound and microresistivity images in oil wells, facilitating a more accurate assessment of their technical feasibility. Professor Clécio R. De Bom, who led the research team, highlighted the technique's importance for professionals such as geologists and geophysicists in the evaluation process.
The development of the technique was carried out in collaboration with the Leopoldo Américo Miguez de Mello Research, Development, and Innovation Center (CENPES/PETROBRAS) and involved the participation of prominent technologists and collaborators from CBPF.
